Happy Hands
Handwashing Awareness in Nurseries, Daycare Providers and Schools
Welcome to Happy Hands

Have you got happy hands
At Happy Hands we aim to promote the process of handwashing throughout Nurseries, Daycare Centres, Childrens Playcentres and within schools. We hope that this will help in preventing illnesses passed from child to child and further through into adult life.

Many schools and other organisations looking after young children fail to provide the necessary facilities to allow children to wash hands correctly. If they do have the equipment, most children fail to use them properly, as they have never been educated in the correct routine.

We would like to help to redress this problem.

Our Reasons

Many people have asked us why we are running the campaign. Well the reasons are clear and simple.

Proper Handwashing can prevent many transmittable illnesses. This ultimately means that children and adults alike are ill less, missing school or work, for less time.

Many schools that we have seen still use soap blocks. Reasearch has shown that these soap blocks may harbour infections which can be passed onto the next user.

So we want to ensure that all children have access to soap dispensers, that they adopt a hand washing routine that ensures hands are cleaned properly.

First Training Session
Old Earth Assembly with Chris McCafferty

Thanks to all those at Old Earth Primary School, Elland. Who have become our pilot school for the Happy Hands campaign.

The children learnt how to wash hands in the correct manner in an assembly lead by headteacher Mr Paul Reynolds and attended by local MP Mrs Chris McCafferty.

UPDATE: The dispensers have now been fitted around the school and all pupils educated in the use of them. Many are now singing the song at home as well as at school. WELL DONE.
